                     Mission

The mission of Neighborhood Service Council's is to open the door of opportunity for the many disadvantaged latchkey children who live in North Dallas near the intersection of Coit Road and Spring Valley Road. Hence our slogan is "Expanding Kids’ Horizons.”

What NSC Does

NSC provides free child care to families who qualify based on need. This is offered throughout the entire year, hence includes both an after-school program and a summer day camp.

During the school year, NSC serves six of  the local elementary schools of the Richardson Independent School District.  On each school day, NSC conveys its kids from their schools to its Operations Center, where they unwind from the day, have fun, and also, aided by  volunteer tutors, do their homework and read aloud to a volunteer.

During the summer, NSC serves older kids, those aged 10-16. NSC offers them a chance to visit places and enjoy experiences that would otherwise, practically speaking, be unavailable to them: recreation centers, swimming pools, libraries,  museums and zoos. At NSC they can learn new skills like playing guitar or quilting or acting, and they can learn about careers from successful men and women. They have a chance to play team sports, in a soccer league that NSC co-sponsors.
